I've never really been a big fan of Flash, it's always seemed to me that there are many much easier ways to present information. But for my work placement at Slemish College I needed to be able to produce learning resources using Flash.Just before Christmas I took a trip to Waterstones in Coleraine and picked up a book called Brilliant AdobeĀ® Flash CS3. The title seemed quite optimistic and I needed all the help I could get. I can highly recommend it especially if you have had no experience with Flash at all. The nice peeps at Flash Magazine do a much better job of reviewing it than I could.
Below is a link to my first proper game in flash. It's called Match 'Em Up and was made for the college open nights in February. It's best to play it on interactive whiteboard, but your mouse and monitor will do....
It's not quite Call of Duty or Sim City but I'm pleased with it. The game also makes use of a wee bit of ActionScript (the scripting language used within Flash) which itself is based on Java so it's been easy enough to catch on too.
